Our Celebration Weekend
The ARC was delighted when news came out of events to be planned in counties to help celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Queen’s Guide award, especially because it had to be organised alongside Girlguiding archives.
In Norfolk we are so very fortunate that we are in a really good position to be able to support such an event.

The ARC had already chosen a weekend to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a wide game, telling the story of the history of guiding in Norfolk, and it seemed very appropriate to have the Queen’s Guide celebration on the same days over the lunchtime period, giving the opportunity to join in with the game too.
And so plans moved forward. We decided to invite Rosanna, previously an intern with us, to return to create a display for us, alongside other tasks. It was great to have her back on board again.
After a hot and busy week, the weekend turned out to be perfect, in all sorts of ways. The weather was a perfect temperature. A mixture of people signed up for the game including Queen’s Guides, a Trefoil Guild entering two teams, a Guide unit, a family, and leader friends. Queen’s Guides arrived for their event, quite taken aback by all the displays, proud to add their memorabilia to all on display, listening to Queen’s Guides from three eras, enjoying award presentations, tea and cake and sharing lunch with friends. According to the feedback everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
A brilliant way to celebrate 10 years of the ARC and 80 years of Queen’s Guides. Thank you all for making it such a success, all memories sealed with badges and cakes!!
