We have log books, photos, documents, personal stories and recollections which bring to life events and developments in the history of guiding. We have many items of memorabilia too which help to paint a picture of the past.
We have original uniforms for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and volunteers from the early days of guiding to the present day. We also have a collection of uniforms, either replicas or surplus originals, which can be handled and worn by individuals during heritage activities. They can also be borrowed as part of our Traditions Handling Box loan scheme.
Our badge collection includes interest and promise badges, commemorative badges, county badges, proficiency badges and special awards. We also have a “badge bible” – an encyclopaedia used to research the history and relevance of specific individual badges.
Our library has a collection of fiction and non-fiction books relating to guiding and the guiding programme. We also have an extensive collection of guiding magazine and other printed resources.
