Heritage Open Day 2026

The ARC hosted another very successful Heritage Open Days weekend on 12-14 September with lots of different sorts of visitors. This was held alongside the annual Wildflowers Garage Trail, literally putting us on the map, and that attracted more people onto the estate.

Guides from Norwich booked and made the most of a free day, the ARC Angel Chair organised a special open meeting for them and fifteen signed up for the special meeting. Sara Jane from Sussex travelled all the way to find out more about ARC Angels and a county commissioner came for a dress fitting for their new uniform launch event.  Sophie gave a talk and tour and then heads were down producing a new wartime badge syllabus. We had a Brownie visit, towards her Guiding glow badge and a family of daughter and parents… the daughter was so excited to find photos of when she was a guide with the 18^th Norwich company. She really squealed with delight! Others enjoyed the mosaic trail, the wide game and the Thinking Day quizzes and puzzled over the authentic bicycle of Nora’s era…. A Queen’s Guide award was presented and someone else completed a section of her award through her ARC involvement, and we were delighted that the Chair of Friends of the ARC and Norfolk’s Trefoil Guild chair were able to join us.
