We make guiding history come alive

Here at the ARC we live and breathe history – it’s part of our past, our present and our future.

We know the importance of cherishing and conserving the 30,000+ precious items in our collection. We also love using items from the archive for activities and events today - letting people see, touch and wear objects and artefacts.

And as to the future? Well, everything we do naturally becomes part of our archive – whether it’s running living history events, cataloguing changes in badges and uniforms or discovering new treasures in items donated to the ARC.

“One whiff of woodsmoke and I’m right back to those lovely days at Guide camp!

Our visitors tell us we bring guiding history to live by:
· recreating guiding events from the past, such as our 1940s summer Guide camp held at Gressenhall Museum and Workhouse in Norfolk (link to news item tbc)
· opening our collection and transporting them back in time to find uniforms and badges from their own guiding days
· lending Leaders uniforms, books and activities to use with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Trefoil Guild members in their weekly meetings
· blending the old with the new - linking guiding challenges from the past to activities familiar to our 21st century members
So why read about guiding history when you can come to the ARC – or visit us virtually - and live it for yourself?
