Heritage Open Days – a great success!
The ARC was open for three days of the Heritage Open Days festival this year and was delighted to welcome people returning because they had enjoyed previous events, members from Lowestoft attracted as a result of seeing uniforms in the Lowestoft Festival in August, a family from Colchester who came as a result of advertising given out at Norjam, the international Scout and Guide Jamboree, and some who came, drawn by the mention of the Girl Guides’ role at the end of World War 2 in the festival brochure.
We enjoyed using our new picnic bench, donated by the Friends of the ARC and people gathered around to enjoy fresh scones and a cup of tea. The ARC Angels managed to fit in a meeting too. Our new wide game, based on the Tenderfoot Test and created by young leaders was very popular and the Guide International Service game was enjoyed in our bell tent.
Participating in the community Garage Sale attracted a few more people to the site and volunteers were only too willing to come and support. Thank you so much to all for your contribution to another memorable event.
