Guides and Rangers: Become an ARC explorer and work on the Nora Collection with us
Interested in local history? The early days of Girlguiding in Norfolk? Fact-finding? Working with others? Being hands-on?
Then we have a super opportunity for you!
Girlguiding Norfolk has received funding to learn how to conserve, catalogue and research the items donated by the family of Nora Williamson, a guide and leader in the 1920s/1930s in Gressenhall. We are running a project on this fascinating collection, and we are looking for young people to help us.

How can I get involved?
Come along to out introductory day on Wednesday 29th October at the Archive Resource Centre and find out about Nora’s collection – what mysteries do they hold and what stories can they tell us about Norfolk life and Girlguiding 100 years ago– help us to decide!
What will I do?
· Meet Nora’s daughter, Patience, and hear memories about her mother.
· See items from 100 years ago, including badges, photographs, certificates, uniform and more.
· Learn new skills and connect with new people. There are lots of skills to develop – working in a team, discovering and checking information, communication, building confidence. If you are interested in History, Media, Psychology, Art, Textiles, then these are just some of the subjects that the project will relate to.
· Help put ARC on the map with its socials – help us create material for our platforms such as Facebook, Tik Tok and Instagram.
