An update on our Nora Project
Nora’s Collection: shining a light on Girlguiding then and now
The Nora project continues to move along, gathering pace as it goes. We were on the lookout for a new theme for 2026, and when we were asked about guiding 100 years ago, linking in with the centenary of Thinking Day, realised we were on to a good thing with our Nora Collection. Being able to tell the story of Nora through the amazing donation we received has been very exciting and much enjoyed. We have been able to book an assembly with a local school and also the local guide unit.

We have widened the interest of the collection, including wider social history aspects. So we are finding the films that Nora rode to Norwich to watch at the cinema, we have received a handmade knitted swimming costume – a spotlight on fashion of the time, we are checking out bicycles which gave women lots of freedom, looked at the train routes into Norwich, and going to look into badge syllabuses and compare then and now!

If you would like a talk about Nora, let us know!
